Born and raised in the heartland of Missouri, Matt Fuson grew up surrounded by the vibrant soundscapes of his family’s musical tradition. The soulful rhythms of Motown, the raw power of the blues, and the high-energy charisma of hair bands were the soundtrack of his youth, igniting a passion for music that has driven him ever since.
By the age of 11, Matt was already showcasing his talent as a drummer in two local bands in his hometown, performing classic rock and country music. These early experiences laid the foundation for his lifelong journey in music. As he entered his high school years, Matt expanded his musical repertoire, mastering the acoustic guitar and bass. It was during this time that he discovered his true passion for performing as a solo artist, where his music could connect personally and meaningfully with his audience.
Matt’s career highlights reflect his incredible versatility and dedication. He has had the privilege of opening for acclaimed artists such as Ian Munsick and Elvie Shane, earning recognition for his engaging performances. Once a year, he joins Overton Road to perform at the Let Freedom Sing Fest at Fort Bliss, a celebration of music and community. Additionally, Matt has graced countless festivals across Southern Colorado and has taken the stage at the Demolition Derby during the Colorado State Fair, leaving an indelible mark on local music enthusiasts.
A hallmark of Matt’s solo shows is their immersive quality, made possible through his skillful use of loop pedals. This innovative approach allows him to layer melodies and rhythms live, creating a rich and dynamic musical experience for his audience. He has also released two singles, “My Sunday” and “Time to Set You Free,” which are currently available on all major streaming platforms and showcase his heartfelt songwriting and storytelling.
In addition to his solo artistry, Matt has recently embarked on a new chapter by forming a modern rock band, A Second To Breathe. The band primarily performs original music, weaving in a few well-chosen covers to captivate their audience with a blend of creativity and nostalgia.
Matt now resides in the picturesque Southern Colorado region, where he shares his life with his wife, their loyal dog, and a home filled with musical equipment.
